lean into corner aphorism

Life’s ride… Rather than forcing the road straight, you can create a little ease when you… LEAN INTO THE CORNERS

“Going with the flow”, “Leaning into what is” these have been constant themes for me this year.

So often I have set my sights on something and want, hope or even expect that the road to my goal will be straight. Really, we all KNOW it will not be, but when faced with a bend in the road, often we grumble or resist.

This expression or aphorism “lean into the corners” brings to mind a pillion passenger on the back of a bike. Ask a motor bike rider what it is like to have their passenger try to stay straight, rather than ‘lean’ or ‘go with’ the rider on the corners.

Fighting the corners just makes the whole ride a lot harder. Just because we meet a corner, or detour or even an obstacle, doesn’t mean that we have to give up on our dreams - our goal - it just means we take a different path.

The trick is: keep your eyes on the prize, keep moving towards it, but be flexible about the path and use, rather than resist, what you meet along the way.
